Shelters of Saratoga is the only co-ed homeless services provider in the Saratoga region providing emergency shelter, winter shelter, drop-in centers, outreach program and affordable housing programs to those who are homeless or hungry in the region.
Facts about area homelessness:
• The leading cause of area homelessness is chronic illness
• 268 people including 35 families experienced homelessness in January 2019
• 7% of residents are below the poverty line, 28% must decide between food or housing
• Rent for a 2 bedroom apartment in Saratoga Springs increased 60% ($2,300) in 6 years
